Quarry Bank Mill, Manchester, 9/03/2012:
Immediately after arriving in Manchester, we took taxis to the Quarry Bank Mill, one of the oldest textile mills. Built in 1784, it utilized a water wheel to generate power for cotton spinning. Over time, additional water wheels and engines were added to increase the spinning (and later, weaving) capabilities of the mill. Nowadays, Quarry Bank Mill is a museum about the cotton industry in England and demonstrates the strong link between cotton and industrialization.

Ecomusée Textile, Wesserling, 5/02/2012:
The view from the top of the drying tower also gave a perfect view of the former textile workshops below. The textile plant finally closed for good in 1996 and the workshops are now rented out to local artisans and small business owners in order to keep the economy in the Wesserling valley alive.
Ecomusée Textile, Wesserling, 5/02/2012:
In the afternoon, we visited another textile museum in Wesserling. Our museum guide took us to the top of museum, which was once a textile factory. The view from the top of the drying tower was magnificent. We were in the bottom of a valley and could see far into the mountains in every direction.
